Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers are lay ministers who are properly formed, trained, and commissioned to assist the clergy during Mass in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ.

Training is available with the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Parishioners interested in this ministry may wish to read on the GIRM (General Instruction of the Roman Missal). It covers in detail the duties and functions of the ministers and people of God. It also includes the specific elements of the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist and how each is performed.
